About Stephen
With over 32 years of experience in the art, antique, and auction industry in Santa Fe, Stephen is a USPAP certified appraiser and trusted professional who has assisted more than 7,500 clients with personal property appraisals, consignments, and estate liquidations. He is the owner and operator of Stephen's A Consignment Gallery, New Mexico’s largest and oldest consignment gallery, where he oversees an 11,000-square-foot showroom and conducts full service, onsite estate sales. Stephen also provides appraisals for banks, trustees, attorneys, and individuals. His background includes managing day-to-day operations and marketing for Strecks Antique and Auction Services and working as an independent art and antique dealer across Massachusetts, Maine, and New Mexico. He holds an MBA from Suffolk University’s Sawyer Business School and a BA in Social Work from the University of Southern Maine.

Stephen Etre’s passion for antiques began in college, where buying and selling unique pieces helped support his education and launched a lifelong career in the art and antique world. In 1984, he joined Streck’s Antiques and Auction Service as Business Manager, running bi-weekly auctions in what is now the Santa Fe Railyard District. By 1987, Stephen bought out his partners, moved the business to its current location at 2701 Cerrillos Road, and rebranded it as Stephen’s A Consignment Gallery. Glen Smith joined the team that same year and became a business partner in 1990.

Now the oldest and largest consignment gallery in Santa Fe, Stephen’s A Consignment Gallery spans 12,000 square feet and holds over 6,000 diverse items at any time. The gallery offers an ever-changing selection of quality furniture, art, décor, antiques, and fine jewelry to suit every style. In addition to retail, Stephen’s provides tailored services such as personal property appraisals, estate liquidations, on-site sales, and auctions. With a knowledgeable, long-standing team, the gallery is known for its outstanding customer service and dedication to creating a welcoming, enjoyable shopping experience.​
